Life is not simple.
As humans evolved it was our intellect, our capacity for solving problems, that set us apart from the other species on the earth. It has allowed us to become the dominant inhabitants on the planet, moulding our environment to suit our whims (and to satiate our greed).
This has led to a number of humanitarian and ecological crises across the planet. But it has also led to common personal crises for many of us. The development of our conscious minds and the rise of the self-aware homo sapiens created a species that today, struggles to exist without convoluted internal dialogues.
This in turn has created an environment where social interactions led to social and political structures that serve the species and to a greater extent, those that have the capabilities to thrive amongst them.
As we go through this complex world, our best protection for our physical wellbeing and mental health is clarity. Clarity of purpose, of spiritual value and of philosophical approach, provide the best armour and advice to navigate successfully through such a complicated life.
This clarity can simplify our daily challenges, providing support during times of stress and confusion – a guide through the maze.
It does take time. Time of education, of honest reflection. It also requires focus.
It can begin with a book or a conversation. You can start today with the tool in your hands. Search for summaries of common philosophies (they are common for a reason) and of spiritual approaches (note spiritual does not necessarily mean religious). Educate yourself, speak to others (especially those closest to you) and choose what resonates.
You can get clarity.
