We love our time in the sun. But whether sought and found or forced upon us, time in the shade is essential to help us thrive. It’s the time to reflex, relax and plan. A time to let ourselves cool whilst taking the view.

It is also the time in the shade that can allow us to appreciate the warmth of the sun all the more. With our propensity to get used to our environment, the constancy of the sun will soon not be felt. Not until we feel the burn of overexposure – turning us red and making us light headed.

Sometimes we get five minutes. Sometimes it’s six months. It is what it is. If we make our minds up and set ourselves to it, it is always what we need.

Whilst we all should enjoy the sun, let’s not forget to relish the shade.
